U.S. Coast Guard, Santa Claus visit Honolulu elementary school with gifts

HONOLULU – U.S. Coast Guard Chief Warrant Officer 2 Thomas Moore dresses as Santa Claus and participates with other members affiliated with the 14th Coast Guard District's Partnership in Education program by passing out gifts to the students of Kuhio Elementary School, Dec. 17, 2009.

The PIE program was created to enhance educational opportunities and career awareness for the nation's youth through direct Coast Guard participation in educational programs.

"It's an ongoing project with the school," said Lt. Cmdr. Carl Barnes, a U.S. Navy chaplain serving in the 14th Coast Guard District. "The community is our mission and our focus."
