Station Maui promotes National Safe Boating Week

MAUI, Hawaii — Petty Officer 2^nd Class Matthew Varites, a boatswain’s mate from Coast Guard Station Maui, takes Maui county Mayor Charmaine Tavares for a ride aboard the 45-foot Motor Life Boat to view a boating safety demonstration near Kihei Boat Ramp on the island of Maui, May 23, 2010.

The "National Safe Boating Fair" event, which raised awareness about boating safety, also included a 25-foot Response Boat from Coast Guard Station Maui, a boat from the Maui Fire Department, and information booths from Ocean Rescue and the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
